Peanut Butter Jelly Time

Demented and sad, but social

New Year’s Eve

Fortunately, I’m feeling better today.  Whatever it was that almost knocked me out is gone.  I went home Friday and slept for a while and then CB came home with Chinese food (my cousin ended up cancelling our dinner plans).  I ate, sat on the couch for about a half hour before going back to bed.

Saturday I woke pretty early – before 9 – and cleaned the kitchen, made a pot of Tim Horton’s coffee, typed an email to a friend (who sent the Timmy’s coffee for Christmas), and cleaned my corner of the office in anticipation for a new desk (Christmas gift from CB) which should be arriving soon.

We went to our friend’s Pre-NYE party Saturday night and stayed till about 2AM.

The difference between parties when you’re 21 and parties when you’re 30-something is pretty humorous.  Back then, partying meant part-tee-ing.  It meant drinking till you couldn’t stand and then some.  It meant passing out and waking up somewhere unrecognizable.  It meant eating White Castle at 4 AM to fill your tummy with something other than alcohol and cigarettes.

Saturday night’s party, however, was completely not anything like that… and I’m perfectly OK with that.  We arrived a little late and people were eating – on real plates with real silverware!  There was ham and potatoes and salad and veggies and wine and punch and mixed cocktails.  People chatted with one another about dogs, kids, car accidents, New Year’s plans, Christmas, dogs, cats, and dogs.

It was actually very lame, but so enjoyable.  I’ve never been a partier so this kind of partying suits me fine.

Sunday we woke in the afternoon and were greeted by about six phone calls split between Daddio and MMBB.  I finally called Daddio back and he was about to pick up MMBB from the train station for the night.  He was going to take him shopping for his Christmas gift and then we were all to meet for dinner at 7PM.

Dinner, fortunately, was pretty uneventful.  Jordan’s gift was a grill.  Not a George Foreman grill, but a removable gold tooth grill with fangs like this:

When we walked into the restaurant and saw him sitting there smiling with these gold things jutting out from his mouth, both CB and I started laughing.  Jordan was truly disappointed that I didn’t care for them and I just told him that I just didn’t get it but as long as he liked them, that’s all that mattered eh.  To each their own.

It was pretty goofy but it was nice to see the boy acting like his 15 year old self instead of some 35 year old.

When we left, Jordan gave me a hug AND a kiss. *smile* I do love that boy so much.

We got home around 9 and I went back to sleep.

And now I’m at work.  On New Year’s Eve.  The good thing is that it only took me 20 minutes to get to work.

Tonight we have no big plans to ring in 2008 other than to ring it in making sweet love. *smile* Uck, did I actually just utter those words? “Making Sweet Love”? Gag me.  How the hell old am I?

Tomorrow, I’ve got to do laundry. Desperately.

Happy New Year! :)
